- When I think about our industry I get really excited because I think we are facing an undeniable trend that will have a positive imprint on real estate.
I would encourage you to go to amazon.com to read two books by Ken Dychtwald called Age Power and Age Wave that speak to the impact that the Baby Boomers will have on the future of the U.S.
He notes in his books the following trends:
1). 2/3 of the U.S. economy is consumer spending
2). 50+ population controls 75% of discretionary income & 77% of financial assets
3). 50+ population will double in size in 30 yrs from 60MM to 120MM
In summary this group is gigantic and they hold all the marbles…yesterday,today, and tomorrow is impacted by their everyday demands.
The question is where are they going to spend their money?
1). Healthcare- Vitamins, Drugs, Doctors, & Youth
2). Real Estate- Home, Vacation Home, and Investments
3). Financial Services- Securities Brokers & Real Estate
4). Travel & Leisure----LIFESTYLE- shopping, eating, hotels…
These are fascinating issues that provide extremely interesting food for thought no matter which side of the “hill” your on.

- I have a comprehensive list of all 5+ unit buildings for sale in the city of San Francisco. The newest "hot" listing in the Multi-Family market is a 41 unit Trophy property with views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. Terrific Russian Hill location with a list price of 14MM.
